Heritage Conservation Lab

The Heritage Conservation Lab at the 麻豆村 of Canberra is a specialist facility dedicated to the study, care and conservation of cultural heritage. Located within the Faculty of Arts and Design, the lab supports the teaching of collection care and conservation of art and heritage objects across a wide range of materials, including paper, paintings, textiles, natural and social history.

Education and research are central to our mission. The lab underpins the Graduate Certificate in Heritage Materials Conservation, offering students a dedicated space to gain skills and practical experience in materials conservation and museum practice.

In addition to academic programs, the Heritage Lab offers professional services to the broader community. These include short courses for industry and public audiences, heritage consultation for institutions and private collectors, and conservation treatment of cultural material and art.

Using scientific tools and methods we investigate the materiality of artistic and cultural objects informed and supported by cultural and heritage protocols, and philosophies. The Heritage Lab is where science meets arts and culture.
