Carpark 7 Closure – Important Information for Residents
Carpark 7 will be closing permanently from 15 December 2025. The period between this date and the handover of the land to the new owner, PEET Limited, on 31 December 2025, will be used to complete repatriation works on UC assets within the carpark.
The Âé¶¹´å acknowledges that the closure of Carpark 7 may cause inconvenience to residents and is committed to supporting students through this transition.

Carpark 7 will close permanently from 15 December 2025 due to a land sale agreement signed in 2023. The site will be transferred to PEET Limited effective 31 December 2025.
Parking is available to residential students in the following locations:
- Campus West Carpark (R2): Managed through UniLodge Campus West. Residents of UC Lodge and Cooper Lodge can purchase a parking permit from the UniLodge office next to Domino’s. Spaces are reserved exclusively for residents to ensure accessibility and fairness.
- The most convenient and accessible carparks for residents are Carpark 9A, 9B, 9C, and 9D:
- Carpark 9A – Permit Only
- Carparks 9B, 9C, and 9D – Permit and Casual Parking
- Carpark 10 – Permit Only
- Other UC-controlled carparks are available; however, please consider proximity when selecting a location.
- Accessible parking in Carpark 25 will not be affected by the closure.

Yes. Campus Estate’s recent parking review confirmed that the remaining carparks provide sufficient capacity to accommodate both daytime and overnight use.
The Âé¶¹´å will not increase parking fees for the 2026 academic year.
Campus West (R2) owners have agreed to a weekly charge of $13 for residents of student accommodation, matching the Âé¶¹´å’s 2026 permit rate.
Permit holders affected by the early closure of Carpark 7 may apply for a partial refund be emailing parking@canberra.edu.au. Applications will be assessed individually to confirm eligibility.
There are currently no plans for new carparks. Monitoring and usage analysis will continue to ensure parking capacity remains sufficient for the Âé¶¹´å’s needs.
Safety remains a high priority. The Security Chaperone Service is available to all staff and students. Campus Estate has also upgraded lighting and pathways between carparks and buildings to improve visibility and safety.
Campus Security works closely with the AFP and ACT Policing to address and prevent criminal activity. CCTV upgrades, lighting improvements, and landscaping changes have been implemented across campus following incidents earlier in 2025.

Yes. These bays will remain available and continue to be monitored by Campus Security to prevent misuse. Campus Estate is also reviewing additional short-term parking options near Pantawora Street and Carpark 25 (subject to ACT Government approval).
The Âé¶¹´å’s Student Accommodation team is investigating feasible assistance options based on resident feedback. Updates will be communicated through Student Accommodation channels.
Any construction must comply with ACT laws and noise ordinances. The Âé¶¹´å will work with the developer to minimise disruption and will notify residents of major activities in advance.
The developer must manage the site in compliance with ACT environmental regulations.
The Âé¶¹´å will raise any environmental issues as part of its engagement with the developer.
No. The Occupancy Agreement, under the Residential Tenancies Act 1997, does not include car parking. As such, rent reductions do not apply.

Pay parking applies to car park usage at Bruce Campus from 8am – 5:30pm Monday to Friday all year round (excluding public holidays). Outside of these times parking is free for users in the casual car parks across campus.
The Âé¶¹´å has over 3200 parking spaces, however during peak periods, a parking permit does not guarantee access to a parking space. Please consider allowing for additional time to locate an available parking space during these periods.

Permit Parking
The majority of parking spaces on campus require a for access, these are dedicated for staff, students and affiliates.
Casual/Visitor Parking
All casual car parks have a 30 minute grace period. Parking is free for those who enter and exit within this timeframe. Access to casual car parks is available without an e-Permit via Pay-As-You-Go.
