Disconnect

By Lily Weigl

Visual Arts
Mt St Michael's College - Year 11
This artwork utilises materials such as colored pastels, charcoal and ink. Complimentary colors such as pink, green and blue were used to create the emotion of Disconnect of which the artwork is named after. Black ink was also used to create prominent shadows and the large outlines of the face and cloth habit of the subject, contrasting the soft colors layered over the top. Simple shapes such as triangles, squares and circles surround the face in floating formations, allowing the portrait to seem as if it's floating in space. Hatching and other drawing methods were also used for shadows.
