This story is written in the style of an old children's story. It reflects the language, as well as the more whimsical elements that are usually involved in such stories (animals that talk, sentient flora, sentient objects, etc). The story utilises a reader-response lens by appealing to the audience's relatability to loneliness. the wall in the story goes through similar stages to us. we think we know how to get on by ourselves, someone comes into our lives and helps us learn, then they leave, and we are left with nothing but a heightened knowledge of ourselves and feelings of sorrow.
