Cerberus

My artwork reimagines Cerberus, the guardian of the Greek underworld, to explore how mythological stories evolve. As modern audiences reshape these myths, their original meanings shift. Through the puppet medium, I highlight how history is transformed to fit contemporary narratives. Cerberus, once a feared protector, is now a tameable figure in children鈥檚 media. The wood carving incorporates acanthus leaf influences from classical Greek sculpture, softening the curl into the dog鈥檚 fur. The puppet is made of basswood, resin, cotton thread, screws, and stain, with a Tasmanian oak frame.
