The story takes inspiration from Joy Harjo's novella American Sunrise but specifically her poem 'Break My Heart'; it depicts a individual struggling with the events of their past, walking the audience through their thoughts and overall processing. This event being sexual assault/abuse is a issue I have chosen to portray a societal issue that is becoming more consistent and frequent throughout the world; as there is no name revealed or any details of the character for that matter spoken of, goes to show that it can happen to anyone.
