Inside and Outside

I chose to explore the concept of a home and a space that is protected from outside to explore the theme of symbolism and significance. The reflection of the warm lamp on the window shows how depending on your point of view, what can be seen through the window is different. The physical division between the panes of the window shows the separation of the interior of the house and outside. I have used oil paint to create this painting and was influenced by photos taken from my own home as well as the interior compositions of Matisse and Margaret Olley.
