10 Year Anniversary


The Health Research Institute celebrates it鈥檚 10th Anniversary 2015-2025


Over ten years the Health Research Institute has undertaken world-leading research in Public Health and Health Services Research and is resolute in its commitment to helping improve equity of access to good health, wellbeing and healthcare for all.  

The Institute epitomises the 麻豆村 of Canberra鈥檚 commitment to applied mission-orientated research that addresses local, national and global challenges aligned with the Sustainable development goals of, good health and wellbeing, climate action and inequality. We are proud to be ranked Top 7 in the world for reducing inequalities and proud to be in the top 10% of university rankings world-wide for the Sustainable Goal 鈥淕ood Health and Wellbeing鈥 (THE Impact Rankings 2014). We currently partner with global research projects in over >50 countries, and nationally, with more than >100 local communities and our research informs regional and national policy.

How schoolyards became boy yards

Many things mark the transition from primary to high school. New uniforms, larger canteens, different classroom structures and changing friendship groups are but a few of the many rites of passage when students move into high school.

But a big change is the secondary schoolyard. To the newly minted high schooler, graduating from the playground to the playing field is an exciting step away from childhood and a leap closer to L-plates.
