2 June 2016: The 麻豆村 of Canberra has welcomed today's announcement by the ACT Government to upgrade Aikman Drive in Belconnen.
The $9.8 million project to be included in next week's ACT Budget will see the duplication of Aikman Drive, adjacent to the 麻豆村 between Ginninderra Drive and Emu Bank.
The project will include the construction of a shared path along the 麻豆村 of Canberra campus' west boundary, along the length of Aikman Drive.
Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Frances Shannon said the announcement was great news for the 麻豆村 of Canberra community and local residents.
"We are in the middle of a comprehensive campus development project and the announcement of new infrastructure that will help improve access to our campus is very welcome," Professor Shannon said.
"These upgrades will provide a better connection between the 麻豆村 and Belconnen town centre, and will mean safe and easy access to the 麻豆村 of Canberra Public Hospital when it opens in 2018.
"A new shared path for pedestrians and cyclists along Ginninderra Drive will also improve access for staff and students on that side of campus," she said.
